Ken Morgan was the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Statewide Private Lands Program Manager for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Agency. In that role, his responsibilities included: Coordinator of the Private Lands Easement Program, served as committee chair of the Colorado Natural Resources and Conservation Service Wildlife Subcommittee, managed the Ranching for Wildlife Program, coordinated the Colorado Parks and Wildlife/Bird Conservancy of the Rockies/Natural Resources Conservation Service Private Lands Wildlife Biologist Program, was liaison to the Colorado Farm Bureau, Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Colorado Farmers Union, served on multiple committee and workgroups with American Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and provided testimony to the Colorado State Legislature and Congress.
In addition, Ken served on national recovery coalitions in directed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to develop and conduct research and program applications for the conservation of the mountain plover and the endangered black-footed ferret. These efforts additionally supported long-term conservation programs for native shortgrass prairie. The coalitions recommended and initiated both state and national policy changes with private landowners, NGO’s, state and federal agencies to implement conservation practices and incentives for threatened and endangered species on private lands. These changes have allowed biologists opportunities to work with producers to design and implement habitat conservation, conduct research and surveys of critically threatened and endangered species and ecosystems in the United States.
