Volunteer Project Schedule 2019

Thank you for signing up to volunteer at the High Plains Environmental Center! We have some great Saturday projects lined up for the 2019 Spring Season:

March
3/23 11am – 2pm Volunteer Project: HPEC Spring Lakes Cleanup, HPEC Trails & Natural Areas
3/30 10am – 1pm Volunteer Project: Willow Restoration & Natural Building, HPEC Wild Zone & Natural Areas

April
4/6 10:30am – 1:30pm Volunteer Project: Wild Zone Construction & Natural Building, HPEC Wild Zone
4/27 9am – 12pm Volunteer Project: Transplant, Weed, & Install Native Plants, HPEC Gardens & Nursery

May
5/11 9am – 12pm Volunteer Project: Transplant, Weed, & Install Native Plants, HPEC Gardens & Nursery
5/25 10am – 1pm Volunteer Project: TBD

We will meet at the HPEC Visitor’s Center to sign in, grab water, and chat about project objectives before each volunteer opportunity begins.

There is no need to register for these projects, but please reach out to Lauren@suburbitat.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer Expectations

Communication:

  • Inform us of any injuries, illnesses, or allergies- Please keep in mind that we have multiple bee hives on site!
  • Communicate hours worked to the Community Services Coordinator.
  • Inform us of any foul play or vandalism to HPEC’s property.

Work Requirements:

  • Stay on task in the area you were assigned to work.
  • If you do not understand or remember a task, please ask us to clarify.
  • Gear:
    • Layers- Dress For Inclement Weather
    • Closed-Toed Shoes
    • Water Bottle (water fountain on site)
    • Sunscreen
    • Sunglasses & Hat/something to cover your head
    • Food or Snacks if needed

Age Requirements:

  • Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a Release Form before each project.
  • Volunteers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at each project.

Directions to the High Plains Environmental Center:

From I-25 take the Loveland/Highway 34 exit. Head west on 34 to Boyd Lake Road, go north on Boyd Lake to the 2nd roundabout, head east on Long Pine Lake Drive to the end of Long Pine Lake and park on the surrounding streets.
